Since the first ceremony in 1991 we have handed out more than 200 awards and paid tribute to thousands of ordinary people from all walks of life who have achieved the extraordinary.
The star-studded evening attracts some of the world's biggest celebrity guests and also honours some of our favourite faces from the worlds of music, film, TV, business and sport.
Famous past winners include footballing legend Sir Alex Ferguson, racing supremo Sir Jackie Stewart, actor Brian Cox OBE, artist Jack Vettriano OBE and comedian Ronnie Corbett CBE. We've even had Hollywood heartthrob Ewan McGregor and Wimbledon champ Andy Murray pop in to surprise our incredible nominees. And over the years we've been lucky to have had some of the country's top musicians perform. This year we are asking you to do it all over again. We want to know who you think deserves to be honoured.
From the charity campaigner to the lifesaver, the brave mum or dad or the voluntary worker, we want to hear from you about your Great Scot.
In September our judging panel will select a shortlist of ten, as well as four community champions. The winners will be announced at this year's event at the Doubletree by Hilton Glasgow Central Hotel on October 28. Four of the finalists will pick up an Unsung Hero award, with one being crowned the Overall Great Scot of 2017. They will be following in the footsteps of some incredible people. There will also be trophies for this year's community, sport, business, charity and entertainment champions and one special Scot will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award.
